S’cool Buddy is not just a good friend, he’s also the perfect way to manage your homework,

track your grades, and keep it all organized on a flip-capable calendar.

With The Selector you can easily access any of your data with just a few touches.  Just select the button from the circles at the bottom for the action you would like to perform, then select the data type you would like to perform it on from the squares at the top.

To delete a Test, for example, hit ‘Delete’ then ‘Test’.

When you select ‘View’ you are presented with two other options: Reports and Graphs.

Spin the dial to the time your class starts, then touch the ‘Start Time’ button for each weekday of the class.

Repeat this for the end time of the class.

If you have a Section or Lab for this class in addition to the regular class schedule, I recommend you create a separate class for it.

When you’re done, hit ‘Save’, and after filling out all the fields for your class, hit ‘Save’ for that too.

The green highlights mean you have a class scheduled for that day.

The blue box means you have an assignment due that day.

The red box means you have a test scheduled for that day.

If I touch the 28th, I can see everything happening on that day.

Of course this is a very simple example with just one class and only a few items, but you get the idea.

This is what you see when you first run S’cool Buddy.  You can touch ‘Settings’ to change the theme or turn off the sounds.  There are 3 themes:  the Space theme you see, a light blue Sky theme, and a plain boring default theme.

You could hit the ‘+’ button and start adding your classes now, but it’s better to add a school term first so that your classes will automatically belong to that term and you won’t have to change them later.

When you hit the ‘Terms’ button, you are give a modal view that allows you to choose, edit, delete, or add a Term.

Initially there is only one entry named “All Classes” that cannot be edited or deleted.  Select this when you want to see all the classes in your entire history regardless of term.

You begin by creating a school term and your classes.

Hit the ‘+’ button from the Terms modal view to add a term.

Enter the name for the current term.  ‘Fall 2009’, for example.

All other fields are optional.  However if you don’t enter ‘First Day’ and ‘Last Day’ the Calendar will assume the dates stretch out for eternity.  These dates are also used in the Reports to calculate how much time you have left in each class.  You can estimate it for now if you don’t know, but you really should get this information.

Notice that there is a ‘Short Note’ and a ‘Long Note’.  A short note is just a quick sentence.  A long note allows you to copy and paste several pages of text if you like.

Once you have created your term, hit ‘Save’ and select the term in the Terms view.

Now you’re ready to create a class.  Hit the ‘+’ from the original screen, which should now be titled with the term you just created.

Give your class a name.

When you touch the Instructor field, you are brought to your list of Instructors -- which right now is empty.  As usual, hit the ‘+’ button from the Instructors view to add an Instructor, then select that Instructor.

Notice that the term is already filled in, but you can change it if you like.  If you scroll down, there is also a short and long note for classes.

You can just leave ‘Grade’ blank for now and wait til the class is over and you receive your grades.

If you select ‘Schedule’ you can input your daily schedule for this class.

Now your screen should look something like the first screen below.  You can see that you have no assignments due and no tests scheduled.

Using S’cool Buddy is pretty simple.  If something isn’t clear, however, or if you’re trying to decide if it’s worth purchasing, we hope the following walkthrough will help.  Or watch the videos.

Now let’s make it interesting by adding some assignments.  I will also switch to the Sky theme so you can see what that looks like.  If you select your class, you are brought to a view where you can see your schedule and add assignments and tests.  Click on the ‘Assignments’ button to view, add, edit or delete the assignments for this class.

Here I have already created an assignment.  The red box around the due date tells you it is either due today or past due.

You can click on the toolBar to see all your due, past due, completed, or all your assignments for this class.

Select an assignment to view its details, and then you can hit ‘Edit’ to change them.

So go ahead and hit the ‘+’ to add your assignments.

Hit the ‘Tests’ button and do the same to enter any scheduled Tests.  Now that you’ve entered some tests and assignments, you can go back to the calendar and see what you have wrought.

Now let me show you The Selector:

The Graphs option will chart your grades for any particular Term or Class.

Tests are graphed in red, and Assignments in blue.

When you enter a grade for a Test or Assignment you are given 4 choices:  Letter, Percentage, Number, and Other.

A Letter grade is selected from a spin wheel with all the common grades,  such as A-, B+, C, etc.  A Percentage grade is a number between 0 - 100.  A Number grade can be any number representing your grade.  The Other grade can be anything you like -- however it will not be graphed.

So in the chart, when you select ‘Letter’, it shows you all the grades for that Term or Class that were assigned by Letter.  Same for Percent and Number.

The Data Mgmt tab allows you to backup or restore the database, or email your data.

Well, that’s basically it.  Although I feel like S’cool Buddy is by far the most complete app of its type, this is just the beginning.  I will be updating S’cool Buddy on a regular basis and would love to hear your suggestions.

In order to backup or restore you will need to download SyncDocs, which is free open-source software that connects to your iPhone/iPod via wifi.

If you already have a wifi connection to a computer, installing SyncDocs is very easy and highly recommended.  If you don’t backup your data, you will eventually lose it.  More info here.

I know it is a little (or a lot) indulgent to have the buttons animated, but it’s so easy to do, why not?

If you select ‘Email’ you can email the complete list of any one data type at a time -- tests, assignments, instructors, etc.

School, whether it’s college, high school, or junior high, can be overwhelming if you don’t stay organized.   With S’cool Buddy you will always know exactly where you stand.

Most homework apps expect you to delete all your classes and start over with each new semester.  Not S’cool Buddy.  Because you can break down your classes by school terms, you can easily keep your entire record -- all your assignments, tests, and grades -- available with just a few touches.  See your entire history of grades graphed on a chart!

And you can be sure your data is save because S’cool Buddy allows you to back-up the database via a wifi connection to a computer.

There are three reports to choose from:  Grades, Time and Totals.

The Grades report shows you your Report Card for any particular Term, and then you can flip to each individual Class and see the grades for all your Assignments and Tests.

The Time report tells you how much time you have spent in class and how much you have left.

The Totals report gives you the breakdown of how many Assignments you have completed, how many are past due, etc for all time, a specific Term, and each Class in that Term.

You can email any report by touching the upper-right navBar button.

If you go to the Calendar tab now, you can see the days you have a class highlighted in green.

If you select a green day in the Calendar, you see your schedule for that day.
